Formerly known as Windcrest Florist, family-owned Bzzy Bee's has been in business since 1999; Jones has been working in the industry since 1998 and the shop's designers have 23 years of combined experience in the floral industry. While most florists tell brides what they should have, Jones listens to what the brides who come through her door really want. "We try to help them decide what's most important -- usually the bride's bouquet -- then tie in everything else with it," she says. When it comes to wedding flowers, having a budget in mind is key. Jones has worked with budgets ranging from $200 to $1500, from civil ceremonies to large affairs. Cost depends on things like the type of flowers, the shape of the bouquet, the number of those who have flowers. But Jones always encourages her potential customers to shop around. She tells of one bride who had a certain flower in mind for her attendants' arrangements. Jones suggested she use a single flower for a dramatic look. The bride consulted with other florists who said it couldn't be done. When she returned to Bzzy Bee's, Jones pulled together a sample bouquet on the spot to show how it would look. "She loved it! That quick demonstration convinced her that we were flexible and willing to work with any budget. If I have flowers in stock, brides can check out the color and scent firsthand." Planning ahead is also important, although Jones says brides often need to add or take away something at the last minute. Bzzy Bee's is flexible enough to work with changes. Because most brides aren't familiar with flowers or colors, allowing enough time is vital. Jones says brides should meet with a florist four to six months prior to the big day, then plan two to three more visits before the wedding to make sure everything's on track. For example, if a certain flower isn't in season, it may take a while to order it. What trends are "in" right now? "Having single flowers for bridesmaids is popular right now. Not only is it less expensive, it's also very elegant. And color coordinating the whole wedding party -- finding colors that are complementary -- is quite popular, too," Jones says. More brides are also using the same arrangements at both the wedding and reception. "Bzzy Bee's offers set up and delivery -- we bring flowers from the church to the reception," Jones explains. "Most brides are going that way, because the cost of set up is less expensive than additional arrangements at each location." Because flowers are just one important element of a wedding, Bzzy Bee's also offers accessories like wedding pillows, albums, candles, champagne glasses and cake knives to help hectic brides-to-be save time shopping at a number of locations for those items. When searching for a wedding florist, options and flexibility can make your decisions so much easier. Look for a florist who shares those same ideals. "I put myself in the bride's place. No matter how big the wedding, we give the same attention to all our customers, because they will be our future customers. We want to be there for the next big occasion in their life," Jones relates.
