The Hilton San Antonio Airport: An Oasis of Texas Charm

Looking for that "home away from home" for your wedding? Then look no further than the Hilton San Antonio Airport Hotel. Just minutes away from the San Antonio International Airport, the hotel is an oasis of Texas charm and cozy ambiance.

"We are a very intimate, hometown-style hotel," says Daniel Morgan, Director of Catering for the Hilton San Antonio Airport. "When we have a wedding here, all of our hotel associates are involved. We really do work together as a family."

That teamwork is evident from the moment you step inside the Hilton San Antonio Airport. Unlike larger resorts, this hotel is anything but impersonal. The lobby itself is warm and inviting, its Western motifs accentuated with tasteful, comfortable furnishings. Its staff also ensures that you feel less like a guest and more like a VIP - which, of course, you are.

"Our job is to establish what's important to a bride at her wedding," Rhonda explains. "What does she envision - what is her dream. That's what we try to make come true."

And making those dreams a reality involves much more than just providing a ceremony and reception venue. Rhonda works hard to meet all the needs of her brides - from coordinating events to pricing and referring vendors to suggesting ways in which to meet a budget.

"I have 13 years of experience in hotel service," Rhonda explains. "I love what I do, and the Hilton San Antonio Airport allows me the opportunity to use my knowledge and creativity to enhance a bride's experience with us."

In fact, the hotel recently refurbished all of its wedding décor, from table linens to greenery to candles and centerpieces. "Every reception should be as beautiful and elegant as the bride herself," Rhonda says. "All of our décor centers around soft colors, and our creativity is endless."

Rhonda often invites brides to the hotel when she is setting up for a wedding. "I like to show them what we can do, and there is no better way to do that than by having them see us in action," she says. "While they are here, they can decide what they like and don't like and get a better idea of how they want their reception to look."

Moreover, the hotel's supply of wedding props is so extensive that brides rarely have to invest in other wedding decor. "When a bride decides to have her wedding with us, we do everything possible to make her planning easy," Rhonda says. "She never has to feel like she is negotiating with me."

This expertise was evident when one bride wanted very ornate floral centerpieces, which were too expensive for her budget. Rhonda called various vendors until she found one who would design similar artificial centerpieces within the bride's budget. "They worked perfectly, and the bride was so pleased," Rhonda says.

Rhonda also has one other secret weapon up her sleeve - she is married to the hotel's executive chef. "The catering really is a no-fail situation," she says with a laugh. "By that I mean my husband would never let me fail, and I'm not going to fail my brides, so they are assured of the finest in culinary cuisine."

Her husband, Thad Crennen, "creates" meals - he doesn't just cook them, Rhonda explains. "He encourages our brides to customize their meals so that they are memorable and unique," she says. "Brides are always invited in for a tasting, and we work very hard to ensure that their menu is not only tasteful but also works within their budget."

Indeed, the Hilton San Antonio Airport embraces each and every one of its brides with warmth, style and first-class service. After all, this is the most special day in her life, and Rhonda Crennen and her staff ensure that it is nothing less than spectacular.
