From the moment you first meet Jeanann Wilkinson, you feel as if you are chatting with a dear friend. Unless of course your dear friends are the shy and introverted types - of which Jeanann is definitely not. This award-winning photographer is all extrovert - talkative, personable, and unassumingly sincere. And her work boasts of a natural talent for capturing the beauty - in any moment - through the lens of her camera.

"I photograph personalities," Jeanann, owner of the photography studio J. Wilkinson Company, explains. "I am not your typical 'backdrop' photographer. I focus on elements that will highlight the beauty of an individual, whether it is a certain location, lighting, or simply their own natural smile."

That style reflects a passion for photography that began more than a decade ago and grows with each passing day. Her experience not only includes traditional wedding and family photography but also contemporary fashion photography for such well-known designers as David Yurman, Oscar de la Renta and St. John's - just to name a few. "I love the artistic expression that photography allows me to explore," Jeanann says. "By photographing various types of events, I am constantly exploring and learning, which ultimately makes me a better photographer."

Her love, though, is wedding photography. "Every wedding is very emotional for me," she explains. "I love working with each and every bride and groom, and from the start I make sure that they are comfortable with me. I want them to love the experience as much as I do."

Couples first meet with Jeanann at her studio, where they discuss expectations, dates, and times. "I want to understand what they 'want to see' in their wedding photographs," she says. "Not only the who, what, when and where, but also the 'how.' The 'how' can range from the type of film used to specific personal preferences."

Jeanann recommends that clients choose locations for engagement pictures and bridal portraits that are dear to their hearts. Perhaps the location is where the proposal occurred, where they first met, or simply a beloved setting. "It is often amazing to observe the happiness that radiates from a couple when they are in a special location," she explains. "Not only are their pictures more expressive, but we've captured them in an element that will always mean something to them."

Along with her renowned photography, Jeanann also offers floral services and hand-painted aisle runners. Beautiful eight-foot topiaries, delightfully stunning centerpieces and bouquets, and charming boutonnières all showcase her seemingly endless creativity, while her custom hand-painted aisle runners add the personal touch of which brides dream.

With her many talents always in demand, Jeanann's schedule is often full year-round, with spring and early fall her busiest times. She handles approximately 35 weddings a year, and couples may choose among five photography packages for the one that best suits their needs. While the packages may vary, the quality of service from J. Wilkinson never wavers. Jeanann and her assistant, Sara Phillips, personally manage the photography at each event.

"Photography is my passion," Jeanann says. "I love my work, and I make sure that the bride and groom will love it too."
