Donna Seelig once took a picture of a bride in a Victorian bathtub smoking a cigar. She's also taken a photograph of newlyweds kissing on a boat on Lake Medina at sunset. Her goal, someday, is to shoot a portrait of a bride on a spectacular railroad trestle with a full moon in the background, or perhaps behind a waterfall. It¹s all part of the creative vision that Seelig puts into every wedding photo.

"When they hire me, they¹re getting a unique creative vision. Every wedding is unique and it should show in the photography," said Seelig, owner of Seelig Studios. Seelig, who has photographed hundreds of weddings over the years, gives couples the option to be creative. "My images speak for themselves. They're really different. I'm game to try anything."

This includes shooting weddings with color, black and white, sepia or even infrared film. She photographs nearly every wedding with a variety of types of film, so that the couple has many diverse pictures to choose from.

Of course, Seelig knows that not every shot has to be unusual. Because she's so experienced, she expertly takes the formal photographs and other traditional pictures. But even on these standard shots, she uses a creative technique.

"I hate the word 'posed.' I basically believe in fine-tuning the way people naturally arrange themselves. Seelig says she makes sure the formal shots get taken, but also ensures that everyone is having fun. "I'll organize group shots and make sure it's done quickly and smoothly, but I want them to enjoy their day. It's really important that they relax and have fun."

Because she often forms a close relationship with her clients, she wants them to remember the important moments of that day - as not being forced or rushed. "I really believe in capturing the moment," she says. "If a bridal couple is dancing to their song and gazing into each other's eyes, that's the moment to take the picture."

The love between the couple is what she enjoys photographing the most. "The highlight of the wedding is doing beautiful, romantic pictures of the bride and groom. We focus on their love," she said. "I don¹t think a lot of people do that."

In the end, Seelig says that what motivates her is the creativity and the beauty of her job. She experiments with different types of film in the hunt for the elusive perfect image; she offers brides options to take photos in unusual locations or turn wedding pictures into watercolor portraits. She even has special albums that can be made from the bride¹s wedding bouquet.

"We're always looking for different ways to offer beautiful images," she said. "We love the opportunity to create something beautiful that's lasting."
