What would you say to an outdoor wedding amidst lush rolling greens, spindly oaks, and a long trellis of miniature orange, yellow, and pink hibiscus? Afterward, you and your guests might watch the sun melt over the horizon and retreat to a butter-yellow banquet room with a high, exposed ceiling and walls of white French doors, opening out in all directions. Sound nice? This is the wedding you can have at the SilverHorn Golf Club of Texas. You don't have to be a member. You don't even have to love golf. But if you or your fiancé happen to play, imagine a wedding weekend like this: It's Friday morning. You, moms, and bridesmaids are going through last-day preparations together. Your fiancé and father are teeing up on the first hole of the 18-hole championship layout at the SilverHorn, which has been named in Golf Digest's "Places to Play" listings and traverses through more than 200 acres of beautiful hill-country scenery. They're kicking off a mini-tournament for all the groomsmen, uncles, and grandfathers-a way to unwind and get better acquainted before the hubbub sets in. As part of SilverHorn's Ten-Pointer Tournament package, green fees and carts are included along with hole-in-one prizes, goody bags with golf gadgets, and golf balls emblazoned with your wedding date and names. A dinner is also included (barbecue, brisket, fajitas, or steak), but you set that aside for later in the evening, after you've gathered for rehearsal. By rehearsal's end, you'll be hungry and ready to toast with SilverHorn margaritas under the Texas stars. For an outdoor wedding, you'll exchange vows on the grassy skirt of the SilverHorn Pavilion, a beautiful patio spread, equipped with an outdoor bar and showing off the country-club setting. The Pavilion patio can seat up to 180 guests. It has breathtaking views of the velvety, undulating course and the curvaceous green oaks that hug the boundaries. It's classy country-club style in soothing hill-country beauty. If you're opting for a church wedding, you can host your reception at SilverHorn's Pavilion or clubhouse. The pavilion is perfect for parties of less than 200. Inside, those butter-yellow walls with white trim and French doors look opulent with greenery and strings of white lights. The open bar is staffed with two bartenders. In the corner, a band is playing. The event coordinator at SilverHorn, Debbie Culver, was able to help you find that great band, the portable dance floor, a cake decorator-you name it. She and the club are in the proverbial wedding loop, and they offer truly personalized service. "Everybody wants something a little different," says Culver. "So you have to able to give a little, not be too stringent about packages and options and all that." Maybe the day after your wedding, you'll want to host a mimosa breakfast for family at the SilverHorn. The options are endless when you let your imagination run. Give SilverHorn a call to discover where your imagination and their expertise can take you.
