For all of your wedding beauty needs, Blush Make-up & Hair can take care of you and your girls!
The owner of Blush Make-up & Hair, Ashley Kravitz, has been doing makeup professionally for 15 years, having opened Blush a decade ago. Blush Make-up & Hair offers makeup application, false eyelash application, facial waxing, hairstyling and updos for any event, as well as conditioning treatments, blow outs, haircuts and hair coloring.
“We pride ourselves on our product knowledge, creativity, punctuality and our general love for helping others,” said Ashley. “There is nothing more special than seeing our clients’ faces light up when we hand them the mirror to view the finished product.”
The team at Blush consists of Ashley along with a handful of freelancers. All of whom are licensed to perform hair and skin treatments in the state of Texas. Working in the beauty industry provides Ashley with the current trends, making what’s “in” in makeup and hair ever changing. She said the most popular hair trends right now are braids—the waterfall and fishtail styles to be exact. These types of braids add a lot of volume and character to any hairstyle.
“Clip-in hair extensions are incredibly popular as well,” said Ashley. “The more hair, the more options. Some women just add the extensions for fullness; others want the fullness and the length. We are happy to help customize any look if our clients choose to go with clip-in hair extensions.”
As for makeup trends, Ashley said that women love their contouring, highlighting and lash extensions. When it comes to the lip color, Ashley has witnessed that the majority of her clients tend to go with a more neutral shade for the ceremony—a nude or a light pink color. This is mostly because they don't want to smear dark lipstick on their husband for the kiss! Following the ceremony, a lot of brides will change their lip color to something a little brighter or bolder for the reception. “Another trend is lots of shimmer,” she added. “Our girls want to glow.”
For beauty treatments in the months leading up to your wedding, be sure to take care of the texture of your skin with regular exfoliation. Ashley prescribes to her clients a twice-weekly exfoliation regimen. You can make your own exfoliant right at home! All you have to do is add some sugar to your daily face wash and you’ve created a sugar scrub. The same goes for salt. If you have oily skin, add some table salt to your face wash and now you’ve created a salt scrub. It’s that easy!
“It really is neat to be a part of weddings and to watch these couples grow into families,” Ashley reflected. “There are many clients who I've done their hair and makeup for their wedding that will come back to me to do it for their baby shower and then again for their family photos. It's nice to be included in the growth of these wonderful couples.”
