The Chandelier of Gruene

The polished brown dashboard of Hannah Quiros’s 1971 Chevrolet Cheyenne glittered with the cursive lettering of “Estelle,” the name of her beloved pickup. Parked in front of her wedding venue, The Chandelier of Gruene, the turquoise truck’s vintage allure echoed the glamorous retro vibe of her wedding.

Hannah’s nuptials to Taylor Pfeiffer were even more special because their ceremony and reception were the first to be hosted at The Chandelier, a new chapel and reception hall tucked within a scenic ranch landscape near New Braunfels.

“The hall’s dazzling crystal chandeliers offer ballroom elegance while its brick walls and wood-beamed ceilings create rustic charm,” the bride says. “I describe the venue as having effortless appeal.”

Bohemian Rhapsody

Illusions Rentals & Designs and Flair Floral worked with Mintage Rentals and Wedding Planners Inc. of San Antonio to create what Hannah describes as a Bohemian-style wedding with a mid-century twist. “I love all things from the 1960s and ’70s, and the jewel tones of green, blue, and orange gave everything vibrant interest,” says the bride.

Hannah selected various dress styles for her bridesmaids, including one champagne gown adorned with deep blue and emerald green floral embroidery. The ladies prepped in The Chandelier’s bridal suite boasting comfy white sofas and sumptuous salon vanities, and of course, an enchanting chandelier. The gentlemen, too, relished luxury in the groom’s suite featuring a vintage truck-themed bar with headlights, a cowhide rug, and sleek television. As his buddies got ready, Taylor donned a blue suit, turquoise-embellished bolo tie, and dark brown cowboy boots. “The blue brought out his gorgeous eyes,” says the bride.

Going to the Chapel

Mellow breezes blew through the open-air chapel, refreshing guests seated on antique pews. “The chapel’s open sides that reveal the surrounding oak trees fit Taylor’s adorable simplicity,” Hannah says. Under the entrancing chandelier that mirrored natural light, the bride walked with her father as a guitarist played “Cover Me Up” by Jason Isbell. Her Loretta Lynn gown by Chantel Lauren exuded retro sensibility with its full A-line silhouette, fitted bodice, and three-quarter-length sleeves, and yellow pincushion flowers gave a dynamic pop to her bouquet overflowing with champagne and orange roses, coral hypericum berries, succulents, and hanging amaranthus.

Taylor’s eyes welled up when he beheld his bride and recited these vows: “I promise to show you in every way that I can and to always remind you how precious and beautiful and special you really are.”

Mid-Century Marvel

An antique velvet green sofa and a cocktail bar resting on whiskey barrels, provided by Mintage Rentals, bestowed vintage character to the cocktail hour hosted on The Chandelier’s lawn and patio. Ornate iron-scrolled doors leading to the grand barn welcomed Hannah and Taylor into the hall, which gleamed with its signature brilliant chandelier reflecting on the glossy concrete flooring.

An orange runner with white polka dots adorned the head table and mismatched blue and orange goblets, as well as velvet green table covers, referenced the ’60s era. While guests dined on a seared chicken dinner served by Rosemary’s Catering, they marveled at the mid-century-inspired arrangements featuring antique radios and various geometric vases brimming with petite blooms and towering bamboo. Succulents and a whimsical topper of saguaro cacti dressed as a bride and groom decorated the gold paint-brushed cake.

Following the couple’s sparkler exit, the bride’s family stayed at The Chandelier’s ranch home, which accommodates 16 and offers a sparkling pool, while Hannah’s pickup provided the newlyweds’ getaway wheels.

“Before we hopped in the truck, everyone laughed when they thought I was walking toward the driver’s side,” the bride recalls. “I let Taylor take the keys. It took him three tries to start Estelle before we drove away to a local bed-and-breakfast.”
