How did you meet? We have known each other since 1996 when Greg became my brother’s friend. Then, 19 years later, we walked down the aisle together as groomsman and bridesmaid at my brother’s wedding. We danced and talked the night away and started dating immediately!
Tell us about the proposal. We were walking around the lake at Discovery Green in downtown Houston when Greg got down on one knee. Afterwards, we ate at the exact same table as our first date. The next morning, Greg surprised me at brunch with our families in town to celebrate our engagement.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? Our venue really inspired us. We wanted the beauty of Sunset Station to shine through with neutral flowers and greenery, gold and rose-gold accents, and vintage elements. Our wedding was romantic and elegant, but with details that were fun and highlighted our personalities.
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? We wanted a venue that was in the city limits and unique to San Antonio. Sunset Station was the obvious choice with its beauty, history, location, and ability to have the ceremony and reception on the same property.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? Everything! It all came together more perfectly than I could have ever imagined. Our ceremony was my favorite part of our day. Even with 200 people, it felt so intimate and special. I will never forget the emotions I felt throughout the whole thing.
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Utilize the beauty and history of San Antonio! Our guests had the best time exploring downtown and learning about SA. Put thought into making your details meaningful, but don’t obsess over them. No matter what, at the end of the day you will be married to your best friend!
