How did the two of you meet? We met at a friend’s house party during spring break of my senior year.
How did he propose? He proposed to me at his parents’ house while we were celebrating Christmas. It was totally unexpected!
What three characteristics made you fall for your husband? His personality, mostly his sense of humor—he really knows how to make me laugh, even when things aren’t supposed to be funny. He is also a very caring man—even though he may seem a bit intimidating on the outside, he is a big bear on the inside. He is also protective, but in a good way. He is always looking out for us, making decisions based on what he thinks would be in our best interest for the future.
What was the inspiration behind the design of your wedding? Anyone who really knows me, knows I am all about the sparkle, so it only made sense to have a lot of sparkle throughout the entire wedding.
How did you decide on what vendors you chose? I found the easiest way to choose vendors was by buying lots of wedding magazines, especially those based in Texas and San Antonio. It helped me narrow down my prospects before actually going into the shops and saved me a lot of time. It also helped me find some of the not so big bridal suppliers I absolutely loved!
What was the most trying part of the planning process? The most difficult part for me was knowing exactly what I wanted while needing to stay within my budget. Sure, you can have the extravagant and lavish things, but at what cost?
Did either of you have a bride/groomzilla moment? No. Kyle and I are both pretty laid-back and we like to go with the flow. I feel like if I had had to have everything “picture perfect,” I wouldn’t have enjoyed my wedding day as much as I did. I’d rather see the whole picture than stress about the little things.
What element of the wedding exceeded your expectations? EVERYTHING! I was surprised by how beautiful everything turned out and how smoothly everything went. It was perfect—a dream come true.
What was your favorite memory of the day? I don’t think I can pick just one favorite memory from that day. I loved every minute of it and wish I could relive that day for a lifetime.
What was his favorite memory of the day? I don’t know if you could call it his favorite memory, but it is definitely a memorable one. He got pulled over by a state trooper on our way to the reception for going 10 MPH over the speed limit. Instead of getting a ticket, he got one of the best gifts of the night—a warning!
If you were a guest attending your wedding, how would you describe it? Actually, I had several of my guests tell me everything was just like a fairytale, that everything was perfect, from the food to the decorations and the weather to the cake. I would’ve had no complaints!
Besides marrying the love of your life, what was the most important part of the day? What can be more important than that? On that same day, Kyle and I made the commitment to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend, and on that exact same day five years later, we made the commitment of a lifetime in front of all of our family and friends. There is nothing more important than that to me.
What are your plans for the future? Our plans for the future are to grow together—whether that is in our faith, love, or our careers, we plan to do it together as a team.
What advice do you have for brides and grooms planning a San Antonio wedding? My advice to other couples planning their big day is to enjoy it. Don’t stress about the little things or spend too much on the things that won’t last because in the end all that matters is the person you are committing yourself to. You won’t remember or have time to enjoy all of the little things because the night is never long enough.
