Michael Joseph Ambrose & Baylee Jo Bettencour
How did you meet? In the middle of my sophomore year of college, Michael moved in with our neighbors next door. He was the cute and mysterious transfer from Baylor and immediately caught my attention. One night my roommates and I had a few friends over to watch the big game. I walked down the stairs and noticed Michael in the living room. It didn't take long for him to follow me into the kitchen and attempt to strike up a conversation. My ditzy self couldn't come up with a lot to say except, "You're funny! What's your name?" He must have fallen for my charm because the next few days he used every excuse in the book to stop by and see me. We had an instant connection. It was like we had known each other for years.
Tell us about the proposal: Michael had asked my father for my hand in marriage just a month before a planned girl's trip with his family to California was booked. A spa getaway at with Michael's mother and my two soon-to-be sister in laws.On the last evening of our stay, a cooking class and elegant dinner was planned. I wanted to get to the class early because I was dying to get a muffin recipe from the head chef himself.
The driver took an unfamiliar turn onto a cobblestone driveway that lead all the way to the top of a hill. Once we arrived, I stepped out to find an incredible French-inspired chateau surrounded by endless rolling hills of vineyards and lavender fields. I didn't even notice the car disappear until I looked up to find a trail of rose petals leading to the garden where the love of my life was standing, smiling and patiently waiting for me. Michael grabbed my hand and led me under a gazebo surrounded by flowers. He spoke such sweet words about our journey together, our love for each other and our love for Jesus. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife - such a surreal feeling!
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? Our favorite season of the year is autumn! November is when the leaves begin to fall and we love the changing colors and how romantic the season is! We chose to go with a more classic and elegant theme for the wedding.
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? We fell in love with the outdoor space Hidden Falls had to offer. The waterfall and tree cover is breath taking and we couldnt imangine saying "I do" any where else.
The flowers were to die for! Angie with Evember Floral really out did herself! She made every detail from the flowers on the cross to the amazing up and over head table arrangment.
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? My husband would say that one of the best parts of the wedding was the Dip N Dots station we had set up. All of our guest flocked to the delicious treat after dancing all night.
Our sweet furr baby couldn't make it to the wedding so we honored him by naming a tasty cranberry moscow mule after him, "The Ryder." Of course the flowers were breath taking and our guests could not stop talking about them! But my absoloute favorite element was the handmaid cross my father built for our ceremony.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? Seeing all the details in my head come to life was beyond what I imagined! But of course the flowers by Evember were seriously incredible!
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? The biggest advice I have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding is to just have fun with it and try to take in each moment! Also embrace the culture of this amazing city!
