How did the two of you meet? We met through mutual friends while we were both attending Texas State University.
How did he propose? Cody actually had been looking at rings for a month or two and finally asked me to go look with him. We went to Americus Diamond and walked out with a ring. I had to ask Cody if I could wear the ring out of the store and that’s when he said, “Well, only if you’ll marry me!”
What three characteristics made you fall for your husband? His caring and affectionate personality. He is very loving and attentive to my needs and always makes sure I’m taken care of. He is extremely supportive of my goals and ambitions and I love that we are a team. It’s never just been about me or him—it’s always been about us. He has never once tried to change me but we embrace our differences and feed off of each other to help create the amazing relationship we have. I’m blessed to have found and married my best friend.
What was the inspiration behind the design of your wedding? Of course every girl has been dreaming about this day since they were little. I found lots of inspiration on Pinterest and just happened to find vendors who were able to take the vision I had and make it our own. I got very, very lucky.
Jennifer with Events by Jennifer Craft was a complete blessing. I seriously could not have planned the day without her. Everyone kept telling me the day of the wedding how stress-free I was and it was because I knew she was working behind the scenes to make our day absolutely perfect. Pattie with The Elegant Bee was absolutely amazing, too. I went to her not really knowing what I wanted and she exceeded all of our expectations. My mother and I were not very familiar with many other vendors in the area either and Pattie got us in touch with a majority of the vendors we ended up booking. The décor and everything went perfectly with the venue and helped make our day even more beautiful than it already was. And Ryan Hamilton, our photographer, was also great to work with. He kept us laughing and made the whole photo experience very fun. All of our pictures turned out better than we could have imagined. Plus, our video by Constante Photo & Video was definitely worth the money.
How did you decide on the vendors you chose? Many of them were found by word-of-mouth or recommended by our coordinator Jennifer Craft—she has great taste! We also attended a wedding expo in Boerne and booked four vendors in one day. I highly recommend attending expos if time permits.
What was the most trying part of the planning process? We had a very short engagement so the most trying part was finding vendors. It must have been meant to be because it seemed like everyone we called just happened to have that day open.
Did either of you have a bride/groomzilla moment? I don’t think so. All of our vendors were extremely easy to work with and having Jennifer as a coordinator helped tremendously. If there were any hiccups, I never heard about them. I think it was just the final touches that we stressed about the week of. Other than that, it went off flawlessly.
What element of the wedding exceeded your expectations? It honestly wasn’t just one thing. It was a combination of everything and then finally seeing it all together. No one could believe we had managed to plan our wedding in two months.
What was your favorite memory of the day? Seeing Cody for the first time was definitely a highlight and knowing we were starting the rest of our lives together.
What was his favorite memory of the day? He says seeing me for the first time as I walked down the aisle. Funny side story: Cody was wearing a mic so our videographer could capture the ceremony and when we watched the video you can hear Cody say, “Gosh, she’s beautiful.” Definitely brought tears to my eyes and made me even more grateful we had a videographer the day of.
Besides marrying the love of your life, what was the most important part of the day? Being surrounded by our family and closest friends. Having them there to share the day with us made it extra special.
What are your plans for the future? We currently live in Floresville and are expecting a baby boy the end of September.
What advice do you have for brides and grooms planning a San Antonio wedding? If you can afford it, I would highly recommend hiring a coordinator. You will get to enjoy your day so much more knowing everything is being taken care of. Also, if things don’t go exactly as planned, just go with it. The day will be here and gone in the blink of an eye and you will realize the little things you stressed about were not even worth it. At the end of the day, if you and your husband are married and got to spend the day with the people who mean the most to you, I’d say the day was a complete success!
