How did the two of you meet? Jonathan and I met in high school through mutual friends 14 years ago. Our friends played matchmaker and introduced us at Jonathan’s football practice. We began dating shortly after.
How did Jonathan propose? Since our birthdays are two days apart, Jonathan planned a trip to Jamaica to celebrate. Unbeknownst to me, he was planning to propose. He rented a pavilion overlooking the resort and ocean complete with a four-course meal and photographer. The whole time I was thinking we were just celebrating our birthdays. After dinner, the photographer came back to take more pictures. As I’m standing up to pose, he dropped to his knee and popped the question. I said yes, and my extreme shock face was caught on camera.
What three characteristics made you fall in love with Jonathan? I fell in love with his sense of humor, determination, and his fun-loving personality.
What three characteristics made him fall in love with you? Jonathan says he fell in love with my beauty, intelligence, and sense of humor.
What inspired the design of your wedding? I wanted our wedding to be elegant and glamorous. I’ve always loved white flowers—specifically hydrangeas and orchids—so I wanted those flowers to be the focal point. I believed white flowers would bring elegance while touches of bling would bring the glamour.
How did you decide on St. Anthony Hotel? We both fell in love with The St. Anthony Hotel on our first visit! The timeless glamour with modern touches due to the renovation was perfect. The chandeliers and balcony in the ballroom sealed the deal! I couldn’t imagine my vision coming to life at any other venue.
How did you choose some of your other local vendors and what was it like working with them? The San Antonio Weddings website and the Bridal Extravaganza played a huge part in my vendor selection. Both Royalty Events Planning and Moments & Milestones Photography were great to work with! They were always available to answer my questions and concerns.
What was the most trying part of the planning process? Narrowing down and finalizing the guest list!!! I wanted to invite everyone we knew, but we had to stay within budget. Collecting RSVPs was like pulling teeth!
Did either of you have a bride/groomzilla moment? We both had a moment while we were taking pictures with the wedding party after the ceremony! It was hot outside and some of the groomsmen were already intoxicated. They weren’t cooperating so we sent them to the cocktail hour so we could take pictures alone.
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? Since we are high school sweethearts, we had a “memory lane” table that included the first picture we took together 14 years ago, our homecoming picture, our prom picture, and family pictures with our son. It was cool to see the progression of our relationship through pictures.
What element of the wedding exceeded your expectations? The reception décor exceeded my expectations! Bisli Event Services did an amazing job!!! It was breathtaking.
What is your favorite memory from the day? Our favorite memory from the day was our son’s entrance to the reception. He danced the whole way down to the dance floor while the crowd was chanting, “Go Bryson, Go Bryson.” It was hilarious because he’s normally very reserved. I think we’ve watched the video a thousand times!
If you’d been a guest attending your wedding, how would you describe it? “Over the top” was the compliment we received the most!
Besides marrying the love of your life, what was the most important part of the day? The most important part of the day was exchanging vows and becoming one under God.
What are your plans for the future? Living happily ever after and possibly expanding our “party of 3” to a “party of 4”!
