Caroline Luna and Colton Villarreal
How did you meet? Colton and Caroline are high school sweet hearts... sort of! They went to high school together and started dating at the end of their senior year.
Tell us about the proposal: Caroline always said that she wanted the Kim Kardashian football field proposal. So Colton had all of her family and friends meet at the local high school football field. However, when they arrived, the field was occupied by 20 soccer players and their audience! So everyone quickly hurried over to a nearby park.
Colton and Caroline arrived. Colton removed Caroline's blind fold and tears filled her eyes. Through the tears she could see her friends and family gathered around holding balloons spelling out, "Will you marry me?"
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? I scrolled through greenery, elegance and gold on Pinterest until my fingers bled. The elegance of gold and white paired together is exquisite and if you add greenery it is just magical!
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? We
The Kendall Plantation has a GORGEOUS outdoor ceremony space and once my husband saw it, he became quite the groomzilla and demanded we have the wedding there. The owner, Kristin, is easy to work with and will let you bring whichever vendors you choose so that was another plus.
Heavenly Gourmet was an easy choice. Their food is delicious! I met Paul Lizama when I was a bridesmaid in another wedding. I loved all the direction he gave and how down to Earth he is. Lynda at Sweet Traditions has such a loving soul. I wanted her to bake my cake and come over for dinner.
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? Our invitations were actually a flip book with details and accommodations on each page. The last page was a RSVP postcard you could tear off from the booklet and return.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? Everything exceeded my expectations! When you visit the Kendall Planation during the week, it is beautiful but kind of bare. On the wedding day, when it was fully decked out in greenery and gold, it was a dream come true. Our food was delicious and we danced the night away to Randy Rodgers Band and Too Live Crew.
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? The best piece of advice I got during planning was to focus funds on enhancing your guests experience rather than decor. If you're deciding between a wedding favor or ceiling drapes, go for the favor your guests can take home and use to remember your big day. That advice helped me nix the over priced drapes and down scale our floral centerpieces so that I could add an ice cream sundae bar. I
know it can be hard to let go of some of the control, but it really helps if you delegate small tasks to the groom or maid of honor. Planning a wedding is hard! So ask for help when you need it! I definitely recommend a day of coordinator. They make sure your timeline runs smoothly and take care of all the last minute surprises you don't want to be dealing with in the middle of your wedding.
