Jane Norton & Josh Villarreal
Hometowns: Edmond, OK & San Antonio
How did you meet? We met at Broadway Bar at a beer pong tournament on Labor Day weekend. We exchanged numbers but it took us a month before we ever went on our first date!
Tell us about the proposal. We took a trip with Josh’s daughter Blair to Park City, Utah. We went to the Utah Olympic Park and as we were walking the grounds there was a breathtaking view of the mountains so he got down on one knee and proposed! Blair shouted, “We’re finally going to be a family!” We went to dinner and celebrated after.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? We wanted the day to be casual and comfortable with very little frill. I’m not a big pink and purple girl so blues and greens were the way to go.
How did you choose your venue and vendors? A lot of mine was by gut feeling. I had the best florist and planner. They’re still good friends to this day. I also went with the vendors whose aesthetic I felt matched my vision.
What was the most trying part of the planning process? Realizing I accidentally scheduled the wedding downtown—during Fiesta! I thought I had picked a date after. I think it was hard on a lot of the guests but I appreciate everyone who sat through terrible traffic to spend the day with us!
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? Our send-off was LED balloons. We had blue velvet cake instead of red velvet. My flower girls/ring bearer wore the cutest dresses covered in flowers (I wanted one for myself)!
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? It just went so smoothly, we had a great time! And the weather had been terrible (i.e. hail storm!) leading up to the wedding but the day before and the day of were perfect!
What are your favorite memories from the day? There were so many! Getting ready with the girls was fun and walking into the venue seeing my vision come to life. Even the tequila shots with our wedding party after we said “I do”! Just an overall wonderful day with all of my favorite people.
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Try to enjoy the process and have fun! Yes, it’s stressful, but it doesn’t have to be super stressful. Just breathe and ask for help when needed!
