Josie Miller & Nicholas Ziegler
Hometown: San Antonio, TX
How did you meet? Nick and I met through Alpha Omega Campus Ministries when I visited San Antonio from Kansas City. On my first date with him I immediately knew he was the one! He swept me away with his spirituality, charm, hilarious two-stepping skills, dad-humor and, of course, good looks.
Tell us about the proposal. Firstly, my wonderful husband is a terrible liar! No poker face. Because of this, the morning Nick proposed I already had a hunch he would pop the question that day! Keeping my hopes to myself, I waited. Finally, magically, during the sunset at a vineyard in San Antonio, he proposed.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? The inspiration for our design aesthetic was our relationship: we are goofy, rarely organized or structured, new-age, lively, natural, and in love. We wanted our day to be a representation of our lives together. This design aesthetic led us to a mix of bohemian, chic and classic details.
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? We chose Roszell Gardens because of its effortless beauty! We barely needed any decor due to the natural scenery. Most of our wonderful vendors were close friends from our church. Our photographers were especially picked because of their artistic aesthetic—perfectly matching the vision we had for our wedding!
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? Visually our wedding was certainly unique in the mismatched bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen attire, while each were cohesive through eucalyptus flower crowns and boutonnieres. Other unique elements were our unity ceremony (foot washing), natural ceremony decor, indoor/outdoor reception and (cheesy) our love.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? Almost everything about my wedding day exceeding my expectations—it was all so beautiful! My favorite part now has to be looking through our photos of our magical day. We are beyond impressed and grateful for our photographers, Alex & Risa Barrera!
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Truly make your wedding a representation of who you and your fiancé are! Don't feel the pressure to fit into societal standards—do what fits best for your relationship and future marriage. Thinking this way made all the difference as Nick and I planned and executed our wedding!
