How did you meet? I had just moved home to San Antonio and a mutual friend invited me to a party to meet her friends. Jordan and I became fast friends and started spending a lot of time together. Eventually, it turned into love!
Tell us about the proposal. He planned to propose at Canyon Lake at sunset but I accidentally found the ring the night before! He hid the ring box in an old pair of shoes he never wears. I happened to see the shoes in the closet and asked him "Why don't you ever wear these?" When I picked them up, he grabbed them. He figured it was a sign, and he dropped down on one knee right then and there. Now I'll never let him get rid of those shoes!
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? One of our favorite things to do is spend time downtown trying new bars and restaurants, so we wanted our wedding to have a big city "metropolitan" feel.
How did you choose the Plaza Club? I looked at about 10 different venues, but the combination of the fabulous staff and the amazing views at the Plaza Club really sold us. It was also a huge bonus that they do all the catering and bar service in house. It made things so much less stressful!
What was it like working with Justin Brownell Photography? It was really great! He's very down to earth so it was fun to work with him.
How did you select your other wedding vendors? Most of our vendors came recommended from the Plaza Club or from our friends who had recently gone through the wedding planning process. They definitely didn't steer me wrong!
What was the most trying part of the planning process? Picking a venue was definitely the hardest part. Everything hinged on that. We couldn't pick a date, or a color scheme, or any other vendors until we knew where we were hosting it. Everything fell into place as soon as we made the final decision to go with the Plaza Club.
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? My mom made me a little pouch that I tied to my bouquet and carried with me the whole night—it was made of lace from my grandmother's and mom's wedding dress and held mementos from other family members who have passed. It was such a special way to keep my family close that day. We also had a photo booth and asked everyone to put a copy of their printouts into a scrapbook with a message. The messages to us were so sweet and funny. You can track the progress of the night based on how crazy everyone is in the photo booth snaps! We’ll cherish it forever.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? We had two day-of coordinators who were such an incredible help. Everything they did was so far beyond my expectations. They really made everything so perfect, and I am so thankful they were there. I definitely could not have done it without them!
What are your favorite memories from the day? We have so many! Our first dance is definitely one of the best memories. I was nervous about dancing in front of so many people so Jordan was whispering jokes and making me giggle all the way through it.
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Give yourself time. It so much easier and more enjoyable if you don't have to rush through the planning!
