How did the two of you meet?
Brian and I met while in pharmacy school at a conference in Los Angeles. We were introduced to one another by my best friend Amy. We both knew from the beginning that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. We spent the next year driving back and forth to see one another as often as we could. After one year of dating, Brian asked me to marry him.
How did he propose?
It was an intimate proposal that involved a Starbucks cup with “Will you marry me?” written on it and a prescription vial with a personalized label which read “place one engagement ring on finger for life” and ring inside of it. We had an elegant, modern summer wedding with more than 300 of our closest friends and family.
What three characteristics made you fall for your husband?
Brian is extremely patient, kind and loving.
What was the inspiration behind the design of your wedding?
My favorite colors are coral, navy, light pink, and gold, so I tried incorporating all four colors into the wedding.
How did you decide on the vendors you chose?
I purchased multiple magazines and researched every single vendor that I chose on the San Antonio Weddings website and The Knot.
What was the most trying part of the planning process?
It was difficult to set the date for our wedding due to church/venue availability. After we set the date and booked our amazing photographers everything fell into place!
Did either of you have a bride/groomzilla moment?
We were both extremely calm throughout the entire day. We were just anxious to marry each other! Even though there was a huge storm immediately following our ceremony, we did not allow it to ruin our special day.
What element of the wedding exceeded your expectations?
Just about every single element of the wedding! We were so pleased with all of our vendors.
What was your favorite memory of the day?
I absolutely loved being introduced as Doctors Brian and Leah Hettler at our reception and seeing all of our guests cheering us on.
What was his favorite memory of the day?
Brian’s favorite memory was seeing me walk down the aisle. We chose to skip the popular “first look” that most couples do prior to the ceremony. Brian wanted to keep it traditional, which he felt was more special.
If you were a guest attending your wedding, how would you describe it?
It was a romantic, elegant, and modern summer wedding. All of our guests had a blast with the MC/DJ gathering the crowd to dance and teaching everyone new moves, party favors/glow sticks, and the photo booth.
Besides marrying the love of your life, what was the most important part of the day?
I wanted our guests to have a blast at our wedding reception, so I made sure we chose an awesome DJ, popular beverages, delicious food, and a photo booth.
What are your plans for the future?
Brian and I plan on purchasing our first home sometime over the next year and starting a family.
What advice do you have for brides/grooms planning a San Antonio wedding?
Read reviews when choosing your vendors and be specific with all of your vendors about your wedding selections. Being prepared for your vendor meetings will make everything run smoothly. Don’t forget to enjoy every second of the planning process and your wedding day. It goes by so quickly!
