Steve Osborne & Paula Roberson
How did you meet? Steve and I met at work in 2007. It didn't take long for us to develop an attraction for each other. We always seemed to laugh and have a great time together. He proposed in 2009 and we finally tied the knot in 2018! We took our time with each other and didn't rush into our wedding day.
Tell us about the proposal: We went to Las Vegas to celebrate Steve's birthday and, while there, took an evening helicopter tour over the city. We had walked around Vegas all day and little did I know he was carrying the ring in his pocket the entire time! He surprised me and proposed while up in the air. The ironic thing was, the same helicopter that we were on, had just performed a wedding over the city. I guess it was fate!
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? The beauty of Barons Creek Vineyards really set the stage for everything. We wanted upscale romance, yet relaxing and intimate. I really wanted to be able to highlight the entire property at Barons. The vines were in full bloom and there are so many wonderful features on the property. Tina with Diamonds and Dreams gave us so many ideas on how to take advantange of the entire property and it was a perfect day!
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? Barons Creek is a family owned winery and we are good friends with the owners. Each time we visited, we fell in love with property more and more. I couldn't think of a more peaceful and beautiful place to get married.
I chose Rustic Romance for the lounge set that was placed outdoors. It really brought a romantic setting to the outdoor setting.
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? Romantic lounge set, silk table linens and chameleon chairs and a custom labeled Methuselah wine bottle as our wedding book. We had a golf ball shaped groom's cake and wine blending ceremony. Instead of a wedding cake, we had a dessert bar with different treats made by I Heart Cakes and even incorporated custom monogrammed cookies by Melanie Wilson.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? The entire day exceeded all of my expectations. Tina and her team went above and beyond to make sure that every detail was covered. Some of my favorite elements were the lounge area by Rustic Romance Rentals that was featured on the grassy area. When it was unveiled, I literally gasped and teared up because it was so beautiful. The reception linens and decorations also exceeded my expectations. I kept table decorations simple and neutral with small pops of color. The custom wine bottle that we used as our wedding sign in was a sure hit! Everything came together so beautifully.
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? I highly suggest hiring a good, organized wedding planner. Tina had so many ideas and was very organized. She was able to keep me calm as the day quickly approached. She knew exactly who to call based on my budget and vision. Her team worked tirelessly on the day of to make sure that I was able to stay relaxed.
