How did you meet?
We were actually set up in college by a mutual friend because she had a dream we were dating. We'd say it turned out pretty well!
Tell us about the proposal
We went on a vacation to Vail in December 2017. We flew into Denver, picked up the rental car and stopped at our Airbnb before heading into town. I was tired and drug my feet and almost ruined the proposal. We finally got to Vail and went for a walk that Luis had suggested. In the middle of the walk, we stopped to take in the view on a bridge and he proposed! He hired a photographer to capture the moment and me dragging my feet almost made us miss our time with her (she had another engagement after us). We spent the rest of the vacation skiing and enjoying Colorado.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day?
Our style has always been clean and timeless so that had a lot of influence. Towards the end we started to get a tiny bit of a winter wonderland inspo.
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did?
We went off of recommendations and vendors we just connected with. We looked at tons of venues but when we visited Lost Mission in person we just knew it was where we were going to get married. The style, the nature, and the ambiance at Lost Mission all made us feel like it was the right location. Same with Dawn (our photographer). We met her at another venue's open house and just clicked. She was so genuine and fun to talk to at the open house, as soon as we booked our date at Lost Mission we booked a meeting with her and it was basically a done deal. We had such a good feeling with her and we're so glad we went with it because we had so much fun with her throughout the entire process!
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding?
We felt like having our wedding at Lost Mission gave us a unique (and beautiful) backdrop for everything. We got so many compliments from our guests on how beautiful it was and how different it was from other weddings they'd been to. Including our puppy on our special day also made it feel more unique to us since he's become such a huge part of our lives.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations?
Everything kind of did! We spent so long planning it was just amazing to see everything come to life and how all of our vendors brought something special to it. We really have to give props to Dawn though! We ran super late from hair and makeup (like two hours late) and she was like a fairy godmother and somehow magically was still able to capture all of the photos we'd hoped for and more.
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding?
One of the best pieces of advice we got was to book the photographer and the dj as soon as you have your wedding date. The DJ controls the atmosphere of your reception and you want to have a good one! And your photographer captures all of the intimate moments that you'll look back on forever. Me and Luis could never pose in front of a camera until Dawn coached us through it and made it come so natural and made us feel so comfortable.
