Meredith Oare and Thomas Hull
How did you meet? Meredith's sister Kathleen talked her into signing up for eHarmony. It only took three short weeks before her profile matched with Tom. Meredith had always wanted to go the McNay Art Museum in downtown San Antonio and they just happened to have an event that Thursday with live music, food trucks and of course art. Meredith suggested the event to Tom and he was on board. Tom and Meredith both agreed this was the best first date they had been on ever! They confessed they wanted to see each other again. How about tomorrow?
Tell us about the proposal: Hands down, the most memorable trip taken together was to Florida's Disney World. As soon as they got into the park, Meredith wanted to take a picture in front of the castle in their Frozen themed "We finish each other's SANDWICHES" t-shirts. They found a pair of cast members to take their picture. Just as the cast member was handing back Tom his phone he asked if she could take one more picture and got down on one knee and pulled a ring out of his pocket and proposed to Meredith! And she said...YES! To make the trip even sweeter the two cast members taking the pictures were also in charge of selecting the grand marshals for the afternoon parade. Guess who was chosen? Tom and Meredith got to be the grand marshals the parade and treated like Disney royalty the rest of the day!
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? Family friendly, rustic, elegant, whimsical, Texas. Tom and I both wanted to get married in San Antonio where we met and currently live. So we embraced the idea of having a Texas-themed wedding and highlighting all the things we have come to love about Texas. We invited our families to join us on a pre-wedding hike at Eisenhower Park on Friday morning, we had our rehearsal dinner at The Cove downtown, we introduced our mothers and bridesmaids to Kendra Scott, and Tom's father to Lucchese. We had our wedding mass and ceremony downtown and our reception in hill country at The Oaks at Boerne. Tom and I even spent our wedding night at Hotel Emma at the Pearl and walked all the way to Casa Rio on the Riverwalk for a late night snack. We love Texas and wanted our family to as well.
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? Of course I had been looking at wedding pictures on Facebook long before I got engaged and kept liking the same photographer at Snap Chic Photography. Tom and I got to work with Anna for our engagement shoot and I worked with Kate for my bridal shoot so by the time the wedding came around they both knew us so well.
We fell in love with The Oaks at Boerne from the first time we saw pictures on Facebook to driving up the long drive and seeing the rustic barn with the lights in the oak trees. We knew this was the perfect spot for our reception. We loved that we could customize the space just for our reception.
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? It was cold and it rained! We had planned for lawn games and dancing under the oak trees but we loved every minute of our cold rainy wedding. The Oaks brought in heaters for us and my bridesmaids went to three different Targets to find matching clear umbrellas the night before the wedding. You only get married once and no one can predict the weather - just have fun no matter what happens!
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? All of our vendors were amazing. You plan a wedding hoping for the best, but you expect something on your wedding day to go wrong. With the vendors we selected everything seemed to go perfectly and we couldn't recommend anyone of them more.
Our photographer Snap Chic Photography was simply amazing. They took what could have been a disaster with a raining cold day and produced some of the most amazing and stunningly beautiful pictures. You could tell they had a vision for every photo, and they were passionate about making sure our personality shown through. If you can get them, get Snap Chic Photography!
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Start EARLY! I called 12 churches around San Antonio and the hill country to try find a Catholic Church that was available. Between quinceaneras and weddings they were booked for 6-10 months. Once we found a church that was available we called our priest to see if he was available, followed by Snap Chic and The Oaks. The vendors make all the difference. Find well reviewed, passionate, and seasoned professionals. P.S. plan your own wedding. You can do it!
