Rachel Cano and Tyler Brendlinger
Hometowns: San Antonio and Austin
How did you meet? We met at a super bowl party made up of mutual friends. Having so many mutual friends made us hesitant to start dating, but we are certainly glad that we did!
Tell us about the proposal. Tyler proposed at Enchanted Rock. We got up early to go hike, and he persisted that we go despite the rain that day. The top was closed, but he didn't let that stop him. We hiked around and he proposed at a beautiful overlook. It was perfect.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? Looking on Pinterest, I just loved the greenery look of some weddings that I had seen. I loved the combination of gold accents and put everything together from there. The blue suits with sage dresses tied the entire theme together.
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? We walked into ZaZa Gardens and just loved the look. It matched both of our styles and we could definitely see our wedding there. We chose our photographer, Jackie Willome, based on her amazing portfolio. And our wedding planner Helayne had amazing energy when we met.
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? The most unique elements were the tables and chairs. Renting the look I wanted was pretty expensive, so Tyler and one of his groomsmen, Travis hand-built 24 tables and bought and stained 225 chairs. They also built the table that we sat at, which we will use as our dining table at home forever.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? Our DJ, John (Toast Entertainment), did all we asked for and more; the photobooth from MBP was amazing; Helayne had everything in order despite changing to a rain plan; Jodie at HEB Blooms was a dream; and Jackie got absolutely stunning shots of us.
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Have a rain plan :) A coordinator is worth having—couldn’t have done it without ours, especially with the rain. If debating about a photographer, remember that you won't ever regret having the best pictures (Pay for a great one). And stay calm—it all comes together in the end.
