Victoria Nimtz & Colton Palmer
Hometowns: New Braunfels & Lubbock
How did you meet? We went to the same college in Plainview where he played baseball and I played soccer.
Tell us about the proposal. We were in McCall, Idaho, for Thanksgiving break. We headed to the state park to buy a jacket I just had to have, and as I got out of the car, I noticed Colton trying to open something and when I asked what it was he just put it in his pocket and acted weird the rest of the time in the gift shop. We then headed back to the cabin to say bye to our family before we headed to the airport in Boise. As I jumped out of the car to run inside (because it was 9 degrees), I heard Colton “slip." I contemplated whether to check on him or keep going, and when I rounded the side of the car, I saw Colton down on one knee with the cheesiest smile on his face, holding the ring up towards me.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? I wanted to stick with a “simply elegant” theme. This required a lot of eucalyptus. I also loved the sapphire blue tux look with a burgundy/wine color. I got my whole theme from these two colors, but I won’t lie and say I did it all on my own, Pinterest and family friends helped make my visions come true!
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? I looked at multiple venues, and everyone I visited, the managers said the same exact thing: “You will know when you have found the right venue.” When Colton and I walked into The Milestone in New Braunfels, we knew exactly what they meant—it’s when you can picture your whole day the moment you walk into the place.
What were some unique elements of your wedding? The fact that the lights went out for about six hours due to a wreck! I cannot even put into words how amazing everybody did in holding it together, especially because it was most of our getting ready hours that we had to deal with this issue. During our first dance, Colton and I were finally able to talk about the power outage. Neither of us had been worried because by the end of the day we would be husband and wife, which was all that mattered. But then as he spun me and I was spinning back into his arms, the power came on! It was the most magical moment of our whole day.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? The photo booth! A family friend let us use theirs, but if you are getting married, a photo booth is a must! Everybody had a complete blast. We asked everyone to leave us a picture and they kept the others—and as the night goes on, the pictures get much better!
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Do not stress because there is only so much you can control that day, and the best part is that, no matter what, you leave married to your best friend.
