Nicole Rehm & Cade Crozier
Hometowns: San Antonio
How did you meet? Cade and I met when we were 14 and freshmen at Clark High School. He was a class clown and I remember his humor drew me in. He played football and I played volleyball. We were true high school sweethearts and actually won "best couple" and "most likely to get married."
Tell us about the proposal. Cade proposed my senior year at Texas A&M—December 18, 2015—in Chicago. We went to a nice dinner on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Center. He had the waiter bring out the ring with our creme brulee.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? My mom is the main person who inspired the design for the wedding day as well as my husband and my love for the color navy. Navy has always been our favorite color because it describes us perfectly—classic, timeless, effortless, warm.
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? We chose Rio Plaza and the other vendors because all of them made this wedding experience feel simple yet beautiful. We wanted everything to be perfect but not over-the-top, and our first impressions with all of our vendors are what made us decide to use them.
What were some unique elements of your wedding? We had a personal cigar roller at the cocktail hour that allowed guests to watch the process of the making of the cigar itself. The experience was great and everyone was amazed by it all. Every guest received a personalized cigar with our own wedding label on it!
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? Rio Plaza is the best venue. Melanie Planas does it all—she is practically your own wedding coordinator. We received so many compliments about the food—almond-crusted chicken, green beans, loaded potatoes, salad, and rolls. All of the guests were so impressed by the food and service!
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Stay true to who you are as a couple. It is easy to get lost and stressed with all of the details involved in a wedding. There are expectations that everyone has, but the most important are your own. We did things beautifully and didn't allow others to change us.
