Emily Gomez & Kelly Mann
Hometowns: Cotulla & Tucson, AZ
How did you meet? At the police academy in 2010. Kelly was an instructor and I was a cadet. We went out to dinner after I graduated and have been together ever since.
Tell us about the proposal. We went for a hike on August 31, 2014, at Eisenhower Park and stopped for a break on a quiet trail along the creek. It was just the two of us and Kelly pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked me to marry him. It took me a moment to say yes, as I got distracted when a ray of sun broke through the trees and shined directly onto the beautiful ring, making it sparkle tremendously, but of course, I said yes!
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? I love the rustic theme and pale colors and seeing them together seemed elegantly country. We thought it would be fun to throw in the “cop” theme as well and found so many different ideas.
How did you choose your venue? We heard about The Springs in New Braunfels at a bridal show, scheduled a visit, and as soon as we walked in, we knew it was the place we wanted. We loved the rustic look and the Hill Country setting, and it worked so well with the theme we chose and felt perfect.
What was it like working with Sun Gold Photography and all of your other vendors? All of the vendors were great. Choosing Sun Gold Photography was one of the best decisions we made. From the first time we met them, we knew they would be perfect. They are thoughtful and professional and their work is truly amazing.
What was the most trying part of the planning process? Creating the invite list and getting RSVPs back. Getting a head count for vendors was tough, but it worked out.
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? Having the social hour before the ceremony was probably the most unique—it kept a lot of people from being late. We wanted out photo booth to be different from all the others, and the mug shot photo booth was so much fun.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? Seeing all of the love and support from our guests was amazing. The generosity from our family is what helped make our day so perfect and special. The feeling of seeing everyone together is unforgettable.
What are your favorite memories from the day? The whole day was wonderful, but hearing the frogs croak during the ceremony is one of our favorites. It got everyone laughing and made the ceremony feel more laid-back and fun.
