Elena Moreno & Andrew Galvan
Hometown: San Antonio
How did you meet? We went to middle school together and reconnected years later at a friend's birthday party. Andrew recognized me and asked me if my name was Elena and there was an instant connection. It was pretty incredible because I had NEVER ever felt the way I did when I ran into Andrew that night on September 13.
Tell us about the proposal. Andrew wanted to propose around Christmas time and since 13 was our lucky number he chose December 13 to make a proposal. It just so happened that we were invited to a friend's Christmas party and Andrew planned it with the host. We were surrounded by friends and that's when Andrew decided it was the perfect time—I did NOT expect this at all. He pulled off the surprise quite well.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? Since meeting Andrew, everything felt like such a dream. Being with him felt like heaven—magical, like being in our own world. In my head, I envisioned an enchanted forest. That's what I asked Nicolette at Chic Concepts for and that is exactly what she gave us. It was definitely magical!
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? I chose The McNay Art Museum because I love the outdoors—the sun, the greenery. To me, The McNay has a beautiful garden feel—very whimsical, elegant, and romantic.
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? Our decor for sure was very unique. Our guests kept telling us that they had never been to a wedding like that before. They had never seen such a design. The globe lights with the fairy lights inside made it feel like we were in a forest. My dad cut and made some of the tree centerpieces we had on our tables and that felt very special to me. Since I have a six year old son and since Mother's day was the next day, we incorporated a Mother's Day dance for all the mommies.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? My photographer Josh from Limelight made me feel very comfortable. He gave me a secret hand gesture to give him if I was feeling stressed but I never had to use it because he was very in tune with how I felt that day. He always picked up on it and made me feel at ease. Before the actual ceremony, he reminded me that no matter what happened that day, I was going to be okay. It was like he read my mind and I didn’t expect that—that connection is something you can’t pay for in a wedding photography package—it’s priceless.
Nicolette also took care of us. There was one point in the night when Andrew started feeling light-headed and Nicolette knew just what to do. And when my mom threw in a curve ball, requesting our timeline to change, Nicolette handled it very calmly. I thought it was very impressive. AND of course, our wedding decor. I couldn't believe that Chic Concepts made this a reality. I was in awe of all the details!
