Jennifer Nicole Anderson & Cory Wayne Smith
Hometowns: Canyon Lake & La Vernia
How did you meet? Cory and I met through my best friend/maid of honor Kelsey Smith. Kelsey and I have been best friends since high school and her and Cory are cousins! She introduced us one weekend when we were all up at the Smiths' lake house on Lake LBJ. We immediately hit it off and started dating, and three years later Cory proposed. We are truly the same person, we enjoy doing the same things, we both enjoy joking around and making sure we are constantly laughing together.
Tell us about the proposal. The proposal happened on Christmas morning at my family's house. We woke up and were opening presents. Cory handed me my present from him, and when I opened it, it was a gorgeous Tory Burch purse with a ring box inside. Inside the ring box though was a folded $20 bill. Both he and my family found this very funny, and while I was looking around confused wondering what was happening, Cory was getting down on one knee, pulling out the most gorgeous ring I have ever seen. He asked if I would spend forever with him and of course I said yes. Truly the best Christmas ever!
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? Spring is my favorite season of the year so it absolutely played a role in choosing our colors. We went with simple but elegant with a light and casual atmosphere.
How did you choose your venue and vendors? After looking at a couple other venues in the area, Cory told me about Rio Cibolo Ranch. The venue is near where he grew up. Immediately after seeing Rio Cibolo, I knew it was the one. It had everything we wanted! All of the vendors we used were referenced from all our friends and family—it was easy because we already knew how great all the vendors' work was!
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? For our ceremony, we had my Uncle Robert officiate. It truly made our ceremony feel so personal and unique. Also, during the ceremony instead of having Cory and I seal our vows with just a kiss we topped it off with a celebratory shot of Fireball!
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? Yes! All of the beautiful handmade centerpieces my aunt designed turned out better than I could have imagined! Also, our wedding cake and groom's cake turned out stunning and tasted so good! I received so many compliments about how moist and delicious the cake was.
What are your favorite memories from the day? There are so many memories I seriously love about our wedding day; I don't think there was ever a time I was unhappy or stressed. Having all of our families around us really made the entire day so perfect! If I had to choose my favorite it would, without doubt, be my uncle officiating our wedding. I definitely will never forget how amazing he was!
