Hometowns: Carrizo Springs, TX, San Antonio, TX
How did you meet? At the end of my junior year at Our Lady of the Lake University, I started my first news internship at KABB/FOX29. I met AB, a newscast director there, a few days after I started at the news station.
Tell us about the proposal: AB was visiting from Seattle and proposed at the San Antonio Japanese Tea Garden in March 2016. AB started to unbutton his shirt revealing the words "iHusband" on a white t-shirt. The confusion on my face quickly disappeared when he got down on one knee.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? During the wedding planning process I kept using the word "grand" as for what I envisioned for the day. I love fairy tales so I wanted to create my own during my wedding, without going over budget.
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? We both agreed where we could splurge for the wedding. The venue and photography were at the top of our spending list. We fell in love with the scenery at The Springs in Boerne. As for our vendors, it took lots of research, meetings and weekend trips to San Antonio.
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? Hand-painted wood planks with bible verses for the ceremony. Our vows each made a reference to Grey's Anatomy (not planned). It also happened to be my cousin, John David's birthday so we sang to him. Most of the decor was handmade by my amazing grandma.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? My family deserves so much thanks and a lot of credit for handling my "bridezilla" moments. They kept my worries at bay and made sure the day ran smoothly. It's true what they say, everything has a way of working itself out.
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? To all the brides, make sure to include the groom when making a decision. It's more likely they'll care if they know what's going on. Take deep breaths and don't let the stress come in between all the love you have for each other.
