Tara Givens & William Reyna
How did you meet? Although we had crossed paths before in a few classes, we didn't meet each other until our junior year in our high school marching band (William played the saxophone and I played the flute).
Tell us about the proposal. William made reservations to celebrate my birthday (he had other plans though!). On our way to the restaurant we stopped on our college campus where William and I walked together under the Century Tree at which point he knelt down and asked me to marry him. I (of course) said yes!
What was the inspiration behind your theme/design? We wanted our wedding to reflect us and the venue. We went with a timeless, classic, and elegant theme.
What were some of the unique details from your day? Bride's bouquet wrapped in fabric from her wedding dress and ribbon from her mom's bouquet she used 34 years ago. The mother of the bride's and groom's corsages were wrapped in fabric from the bride's dress. Guests signed custom print guestbook and received A&M-themed M&M favors (as a nod to the college we attended).
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? For selecting both our venue and vendors, we did extensive research—we looked online, attended two bridal expos in San Antonio, and toured and met with many venues and vendors. When we visited Eilan Hotel & Spa, it just fit us. From the ease of being able to get ready there and have the ceremony and reception at the same location to the details in the ballroom, we knew this was the venue for us. We loved all of the details—the elegant look of the hotel, the chandeliers in Sala Cristallo (our ceremony room), and the maroon lofted ceilings in the reception room (Gig 'em). We chose all of our wedding vendors based not only on their style and quality of work but also on their personality. We absolutely loved the vendors we chose! Each of our vendors delivered beyond our expectations—they were absolutely such a pleasure to work with and it made the planning process enjoyable.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? The whole day was absolutely wonderful and amazing! All of our vendors and our venue did such a spectacular job and made the wedding run so smoothly and made the day absolutely wonderful and the best day ever!
What are your favorite memories from the day? How do you pick just one favorite memory from the best day ever? Saying our vows and walking down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs. was one of our favorite memories from our wedding day. That and being able to celebrate our marriage with our family and friends!
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Our one big piece of advice we have is to remember that this day is about the two of you getting married! Some of the other advice we have is to choose vendors that not only produce work that you like but also that have a great personality and are wonderful to work with. It will make a huge difference in the planning process!
