Jasmine Garcia & Joseph Daniel DeLeon
Hometowns: San Antonio & Victoria
How did you meet? We met our freshman year in college. Joseph randomly came up to me on the first week of school and sparked up a conversation. We realized we had mutual friends and became much closer. It wasn’t until our sophomore year when we were set up on a movie date. Our friends told us it was going to be a date dash/group date to the movies but it turned out to be just us two. We needed the little extra push. We’ve been on numerous movie dates ever since!
Tell us about the proposal. Joseph proposed on our six-year anniversary at St. Mary’s University where we first met and where I now work. My coworkers distracted me and kept me a little late after work while Joseph and my family were outside decorating the campus gazebo. When I walked out the front doors of St. Louis Hall, my parents and sister were waiting for me at the fountain. They walked me to the gazebo where Joseph waited. He pulled the ring from a rose in a glass case—similar to Beauty & the Beast (I’m a Disney fan)—and got down on one knee to ask me to marry him. I said yes a million times.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? We wanted an intimate, romantic, and very traditional wedding. Our colors were blush pink, ivory, and navy blue with touches of gold.
How did you choose your venue and vendors? We chose our venue based off of our church Mission Concepcion, a small and intimate Spanish mission. We wanted our reception venue to match that. When we visited Los Encinos Hill Country Estate, we instantly had that intimate feeling of home. As for our vendors, we wanted patient professionals who could reflect our personalities. All In The Details and One Sound DJ Productions walked us through the entire process. We could not be more grateful for their help.
What was it like working with Melissa at All In The Details? Melissa was great. She was going to be on maternity leave on our wedding day, so she made sure everything was set in place and that we were in great hands with Sarah and Morgan, who walked us through the rehearsal, kept us calm, made sure we enjoyed ourselves on our wedding day, and made sure our reception was perfect.
What was the most trying part of the planning process? Staying within our budget! We had so many ideas and little details we just couldn’t say no to. And the guest list, of course.
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? We incorporated some Mexican traditions in both our ceremony and reception. We had a bilingual Catholic mass, which was very important to me, and we also had “La Vibora De La Mar” at the reception.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? Everything! The DJ team was absolutely incredible. Our wedding coordinators were so patient and kind. Our photographer was incredibly talented and helped with not just making sure she got as many shots as possible but also she helped make sure we were comfortable during our reading of our letters before the ceremony.
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Set a budget, set a theme, focus on the little details to make it your own, and invest in both a photographer and a videographer. We love being able to relive our day through both photos and video.
