Amanda Blanton and Patrick Nations
How did you meet? We had mutual friends and became Facebook friends. One Monday, I accidentally sprayed my hair with Fabreeze instead of hairspray and posted it on Facebook. He thought it was hilarious but was too shy to contact me, so I contacted him. Come to find out, we both worked in the oilfield and had a lot in common. We went from sending the gray cat sticker on Facebook messenger to marrying each other. Just crazy and amazing!
Tell us about the proposal: I thought we were going on a date to pet buffalo and cows. Instead he drove us to my parents (I was told to cover my eyes) and all our friends and family were there. I walked up and he got down on one knee. He had asked my dad back in August when they went fishing together. How he kept that secret for months, I have no idea!
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? My grandma was a wedding planner in her younger days and was an amazing decorater. She inspired me in so many ways throughout my life. Unfortunatly she passed away a few years before my wedding, but I know she was up in heaven laughing and dancing along and loving every minute of it!
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? I researched each one and I know I made the best decisions! We both love pizza, so I knew a pizza truck would be awesome! I found my DJ on Wedding Wire, he had great reviews. HEB Blooms always has a beautiful selection of flowers, so I knew to go to them!
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? My handmade and hand painted signs, made by my mother-in-law Cindy Nations, that stood on my walk down the isle. The pizza truck – because who doesn’t love pizza? My husband helped me put together my memory spot using my Grandma’s mirror frame. My amazing cake with succulents. Bubble guns for our send off were a big hut!
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? My pictures for sure. Dawn Elizabeth Studios is by far the best photographer that I have ever come across. Every one of the photos came out perfect!
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Don’t stress over the small stuff. Really put thought into it when it comes to certain pictures and songs. Make a list ahead of time, so that anyone could set your wedding up – I made mine and it helped a ton! Enjoy yourself – it’s one of the best days of your life!
