What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? One of our best couple friends knew us both individually and thought it would be a great idea for us to meet. We went on a double date and the rest is history.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? We took a trip to Costa Rica to experience some adventures and take a break from our busy jobs. We scheduled a group hike around a volcano one afternoon and, because of the rain, everyone else set to join had cancelled. It ended up being just the tour guide, us and the rain. Travis didn't plan on proposing during the hike but knew it was the perfect opportunity given our now private tour. We made it to the top of an elevated lava field and just as we were about to pose for picture together he got down on one knee. It couldn't have been in a more beautiful spot and is definitely a place we will hold in our hearts.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? The one thing we both knew we wanted on our wedding day was bright colors. We were inspired by the tropical flowers we saw everyday in Costa Rica and a spring wedding would be the perfect opportunity to incorporate them. Additionally, we wanted to incorporate some Latin influence throughout the wedding given Danielle's family background.
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? The wedding venue could not have been a more perfect match to incorporate Latin influence given its own rich history as a military supply depot for Santa Ana. It needed very little in the way of decor as the grounds are filled with beautiful masonry, brightly colored flowers and oak trees as big as giants.
With the help of our planners at All in the Details, we chose the vendors we did because they demonstrated the same excitement about our wedding and the vision we had. It definitely made us feel like we were making the right choice with each and every one of them.
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? Cuban/Puerto rican food and Talavera tiles to touch on a Latin family history. Brightly colored flowers to remind us of our engagement in beautiful Costa Rica. A live, local Texas country band as its some of our favorite music to listen to together. Craft beer, since we have travelled far and wide just to find new brews with some of our closest friends. A crepe cake similar to one we had on a vacation together and finally, a beautiful and boldly colored flower circle arch for the ceremony which could bring one to tears.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? Our planners at All in the Details were by and far the best thing we could have asked for. From day one to Wedding day, everything came together like a beautifully orchestrated symphony. Our parents could not believe how little they had to do on the wedding day and were surprised that they were able to relax and take it all in.
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Don't be afraid to incorporate little things that might not be a huge crowd pleaser. They will be the things you most remember because they are the most personal.
