Courtney & Alberto
How did you meet? We met at a Texas country music festival in Steamboat, Colorado. We went with our group of friends and met at one of the concert venues during the festival.
Tell us about the proposal. He proposed on my birthday. He had a bunch of different gifts wrapped in boxes and after opening all of the boxes, he left and said he had one more gift and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He had a whole day planned on Canyon Lake with our friends after the proposal.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? Being from Buffalo, NY, I wanted to find a venue that was in the hill country and that was unlike anything that my out-of-town family had ever seen. We also wanted to bring in the rustic country feel with a barn setting on our wedding day.
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? When visiting Eagle Dancer Ranch and driving through the property, it met our vision of everything we wanted and more. Then, seeing the bridal and groom suites, and the inside of the barn with the chandelier, we knew it was the place we would be married. It brought together the perfect rustic feel with elegance!
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? We had about 100 people fly in from New York and the other half from the Texas area, so seeing New Yorkers and Texans two-stepping to the Buffalo Bills shout song and doing Cumbias together was really a fun experience for everyone! We also had one of our good friends, Mario Flores, surprise us by singing us a song at our wedding. He is a Texas country artist that sings with his band Mario Flores and the Soda Creek Band.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? The whole day was perfect, but our venue, catering and photographer exceeded our expectations. Our out-of-town guests are still talking about how beautiful the venue was and how great the food was. We had a macaroni and cheese bar during cocktail hour that was a hit! Our photographer, Ashley Medrano, went above and beyond and our pictures are stunning.
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Don't get caught up worrying about pleasing anyone else. The day is about you and your husband, and sometimes you need to take a step back during the planning process and remember that.
