How did you meet?
Indy and I met in physics class in college at Baylor University almost 5 years ago. At the time, he was a senior, and I was a junior. Indy set it up so we would be lab partners, and we grew closer and closer over the semester. Indy eventually asked me out, but I had no idea at the time that Indy would surely swoon me over, steal away my heart, and stick with me through it all. Because our journey had only just begun!
Tell us about the proposal
On a warm, sunny day last summer, Indy surprised me at my favorite park, the Dallas Arboretum, with a diamond on bended knee. He nervously stumbled through a few words. Speechless, I nodded. Ecstatic, he slipped the ring on my finger, and we tearfully embraced. It was a beautiful moment, made all the sweeter when my family and friends from around country surprised us that day to celebrate our engagement.
What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day?
We had a Fiesta! Both Indy and I are Hispanic, so we wanted to celebrate our heritage with our wedding. Also, we wanted to highlight the beauty of San Antonio, and Fiesta is such a major part of our city.
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did?
We chose the Club at Garden Ridge, because exactly what we wanted in a venue: indoor and outdoor, naturally beautiful, elegant and spacious. Plus, the owners are dear friends of ours, so we had seen multiple weddings occur at the club that were exactly what we wanted. As for our vendors, I went off of the suggestions from the venue coordinator, aside from our photographer. We hired Hannah Charis because of her natural, bright photography, and we were ecstatic with the results! Hannah went above and beyond!
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding?
Following through with a modern fiesta theme, we hired a mariachi band, strung up papel picado, decorated with cacti signs, and dined on delicious Mexican food and churros!
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations?
Everything! We had the most perfect day, without any issues. Big thanks to all of our vendors for making our dreams come true.
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding?
Invest in choosing an excellent venue with a helpful and experienced venue coordinator. She or he can filter out a lot of the "bad" options out there you might have considered, and thus save time and stress! When looking for a location, don't be shy to look up north in the hill country--it's beautiful and not far away!
