How did you meet?
We met when I (Millery) was a senior in high school and Ben was a freshman in college. We cheered on a team together in Daphne, Alabama where we both traveled to every other weekend. We didn't know each other and didn't really talk much while we were on this team. We then both ended up attending the University of Alabama as cheerleaders. Ben and I were partners my sophomore and his junior year. We started off as just friends. The following year we began spending more time around each other and our friendship turned into something more. Then we started dating his senior year!
Tell us about the proposal:
There were three different occasions where he wanted to propose! The first time was at an Alabama home game my senior year (he had graduated the previous year). His family flew into town and he wanted to do it on the field, but Marketing wouldn't cooperate, so he decided to wait. He then wanted to do it at a Basketball game, but then decided that wasn't the best time to do it either. Third times a charm! We were snowboarding with my family in Colorado and my mom told me we were all going to take pictures on the side of the mountain after lunch. We walk outside and as we are getting our picture taken on the side of the mountain, he gets down on his knee and proposes! It was sweet because it was aside from cheerleading (everything we've ever known) and it was more personal.
Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did?
I tried to find vendors that were relatively close by, but had great reviews from previous clients of theirs. I feel the vendors I chose all helped bring my natural and vintage wedding to life!
What were some of the most unique elements of your weddings?
The wooden cross at the alter for the ceremony, the canvas photos displayed all around the reception of Ben and I stunting in different places all over the world, the grooms cake (Bryant-Denny Stadium), Big Al (the Alabama mascot) was at the reception, all Alabama Cheerleading Alumni did the fight song at the reception and the glow sticks for guests during dancing.
