We are avid gamers (both board and video). We have so many games and just wanted everyone to have fun, so we decided to make everything game themed. The idea was that everything should feel simple and unstuffy.
Board Games! All of them were playable. We had inside and outside games. As one of my guests said, "It was one of the first weddings with no social anxiety" because you could get to know people at the tables.
We met in our directing 2 class. But we got really close the next semester when we found out we had every class together and got assigned working on 3 shows together. We basically became inseparable as we spent every single moment together. It seemed like fate brought us together.
On the day of, we had a read-through of a show that we were starting at the Emily Ann Theatre and Gardens. Luke asked me if I would like to get some food and eat it at our spot(when we first started seeing each other there was a spot on the top of the hill where there is a hand holding a globe). I said of course, so he asked me what I wanted to eat. I asked for Hooters (because I have a secret obsession), so he went to Hooters and picked me up from work. When we got there he sprinted up the hill with me trying to follow. He was a nervous mess, but the second we got up there he was so calm. He asked me in the exact spot where our relationship started. It was so beautiful and sweet. I was so overwhelmed I didn't eat. He had been so nervous he hadn't eaten in two days so he ate all of the Hooters. It was one of the most special moments of my life.
We tried to find genuine and home grown businesses. We met with a lot of different vendors, we chose all the ones who felt best to us. And we are so glad that we had so many small local businesses.
Everything about my wedding exceeded expectations. Our photography was beautiful, our DJ, Hunter, was so caring. Our day of coordinator (through Canyon Lake Cabins and Cottages), Christie, went above and beyond. It seemed like everyone was just having fun and letting loose which is all that we could ask for.
Go with your gut. When something seems right, it is! Also book a venue that will go above for you. I have never worked with such nice and caring people. Shop Local!
