Roxanne Lopez & John P. McPhillips Jr.
Hometowns: Laredo & San Antonio
How did you meet? We were both servers at Logan's Roadhouse and one day after working a shift together, J.P. slipped a piece of paper into my apron. When I got into my car, I saw that it was his phone number written on a napkin. We became friends at first and eventually fell in love. The rest is history!
Tell us about the proposal. After dating for five years, we got engaged over Memorial Day weekend. We were in South Padre for a beach trip and J.P. kept it a secret from everyone! On the third day of our trip, we took a walk on the beach and J.P. got on one knee and I began to cry hysterically. I didn't think when the moment came I would cry like a baby, but my emotions took over and the water works came pouring down. I was so happy to finally be engaged to my best friend! After I said yes, all of our friends came running towards us with hugs.
What inspired the design of your wedding day? The venue did most of the decorating.
How did you choose your venue and vendors? During our venue search, Kendall Plantation was the first venue we visited and we absolutely fell in love. We checked out five or six other venues, but nothing could compare. Our vendors were recommended by our wedding coordinator, Lisa Morales of Haute Weddings. Having fun in life is just as important to us as working hard. So, we wanted to make sure our wedding was a blast for everyone. We did a lot of research on our vendors and it was worth it.
What was the most trying part of the planning process? Stationery!
What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? Photobooth, mariachis, uplighting, Kendall Plantation, open bar.
Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? Everything about our day was perfect! We had such a great time and seeing all of our loved ones enjoying our wedding and celebrating with us made it even better.
What are your favorite memories from the day? Saying our vows to one another.
What are your plans for the future? We both just graduated with our bachelor's degrees and J.P. is working towards an M.B.A. in healthcare management while I am currently enrolled in pharmacy school. We both encourage each other to work hard and accomplish our goals. We plan on having children in the near future.
What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Hire a wedding coordinator! Our coordinator Lisa recommended the elite vendors in the wedding industry, which ultimately allowed us to have our perfect wedding.
