When future brides try on gowns at Destiny Bridal in northwest San Antonio and Destiny’s Closet in Live Oak, owner Maria Leon asks them to focus on only two people.
“I tell my clients to envision themselves walking down the aisle,” she says. “How does she see herself—as elegant, modern, a princess? When the groom locks eyes with her, it won’t matter what anyone else thinks. It’s just the two of them.”
Maria’s two salons offer designs to fit every bride’s style and budget. With more than 15 years in the bridal fashion industry, she has established relationships with top labels such as Allure Bridals, Maggie Sottero, Essense of Australia, Justin Alexander and Mori Lee.
“Our main goal is to help brides find the perfect gown,” she says. “We listen to their ideas so that they stay true to their style and dreams.”
Saying Yes to the Dress
Luxurious fabrics, exquisite lace, detailed crystal, pearl beading and gorgeous couture styling are some of the features Maria seeks when acquiring gowns.
“Our customers tell us we have the best selection in the city,” she says. “When I buy gowns from the designers, I imagine how my brides will look wearing them. All of our gowns possess excellent construction, and the embroidery and lace is done to perfection.”
From petite to tall and from curvy to dainty, every bride’s shape looks stellar in designs and sizes presented at Destiny Bridal and Destiny’s Closet. For additional customization, the salons’ in-house seamstresses make alterations.
“When it’s the right gown for them, our customers say, ‘Yes,’ when I ask if it’s ‘The One,’” Maria says. “They will love their gown today, on their wedding day and when they look at pictures of themselves wearing it 10 years from now.”
From Head to Toe
With the ambiance of a chic and airy studio, Destiny Bridal provides spacious dressing rooms and comfortable lounge areas for the utmost comfort. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-in clients are welcomed. The salon’s superior selection combined with the knowledgeable expertise of its sales associates has earned it the following recognitions: San Antonio WeddingsBride’s Favorite from 2012 to 2014, The Knot 2015 Best of Weddings and the Wedding Wire 2015 Couples’ Choice Awards.
Destiny Bridal’s vast selection of gowns ranges from $1,200 to $3,500. Gowns costing $800 or less are sold at Destiny’s Closet, which features new, but discontinued, gowns from the same premier designers available at Destiny Bridal.
“It’s important for us to show our clients gowns that accommodate their budget,” Maria says. “We want them to feel happy and confident about their purchase.”
In addition to a lovely array of gowns, both shops showcase an impressive variety of ornate hand-beaded, intricate lace and satin-trimmed veils. Maria also custom makes veils to match the exact lace pattern of a gown.
Other accessories available include shoes, belts and headpieces adorned with Swarovski crystals and pearl beads. Dresses for bridesmaids, flower girls and mothers as well as tuxedos, sign-in books, kneeling pillows, arras and lassos are available.
“After the bride chooses her beautiful gown, we can help her wedding party find their apparel and accessories,” says Maria. “From head to toe, we offer everything they need to look stunning on the big day.”
