On the banks of Canyon Lake sits Canyon Lakeview Resort where glittering aquamarine waves fade into emerald green ripples that kiss the stony shore. Refreshing breezes dance in the treetops and lakeside bluffs make you feel like you’ve traveled to a dreamy destination.
The 150-bed resort provides a relaxing getaway for guests attending weddings at nearby Hill Country venues such as Dry Comal Creek Vineyards, The Springs Event Venue in New Braunfels, The Gardens of Cranesbury View, Lost Mission, Anhalt Hall and the brand new The Chandelier of Gruene.
“The resort’s spacious suites and picturesque lakeshore extend the Hill Country experience for wedding events celebrated at the many surrounding venues,” says Ryane Gibbens, local marketing manager for Canyon Lakeview. “Family and friends can get reacquainted here before the event and unwind afterward.”
The resort’s seven lakeside acres provide a destination wedding headquarters for rest, recreation, and reconnection.
“Just imagine how much more fun a wedding could be if people who haven’t seen each other in a long time could throw a barbecue and sip a drink while overlooking the gorgeous lake,” Ryane says. “Rather than staying in a noisy hotel off a highway, they can stretch out on our scenic shore, take a dip in our sparkling pool, and even feed our deer by hand.”
Opportunities for enjoyment abound. Guests can swim or fish in the cove’s crystal waters, play a match of sand volleyball, or take off from the on-site boat dock. Golf, kayaking, and tubing attractions as well as winery tours, spas, and antique shops are a short drive away.
For a rehearsal dinner or Sunday brunch, the resort’s Cain Conference Center offers a catering kitchen and banquet tables and chairs. The event can even expand onto the covered deck, park-like lawn, and adjacent swimming pool patio.
Soaring Views: Cathedral Cabins
Sweeping vistas of the lake are unveiled on the private balconies of Canyon Lakeview’s two-story Cathedral Cabins.
“Perched above the tree canopy, the second-story balconies overlook the spectacular lake,” Ryane describes. “On the lower balcony deck, guests can soak in the private hot tub or fire up the gas grill for a delicious cookout.”
Capped by sheeny copper roofs that blend with the woodsy setting, each of the cabins accommodates up to 10 or 12 guests. Providing a comfortable atmosphere, the cabins feature a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and living space with a gas fireplace.
“The spacious floorplan is ideal for the bridal party getting their hair and makeup done, while the groom and his men have a great time in the cabin and many times venture out to go fishing or boating.”
Outside each cabin, boulder fire pits and picnic tables create friendly gathering places. In the daytime, guests feed the docile deer with food provided in each room. In the evening, twinkling stars dazzle the unspoiled sky.
Cozy Quarters: The Lodge
Guests seeking cozier-sized rooms at Canyon Lakeview will appreciate the suites of The Lodge that sleep six downstairs and four upstairs and that can be reserved connected. Charming touches, such as front porch timber columns and Talavera bathroom sinks, produce rustic hideaway charm. But what guests most enjoy are the shared back porches on the top and bottom floors.
“Family and friends like to come out of their rooms, hop on one of the porch swings, and hang out with the lake views spanning before them,” Ryane says.
Guests can also stroll the lodge’s manicured lawn, retreat under an expansive oak tree, or visit one of the resort’s unexpected finds: a sapphire-plumed peacock and his doting peahens.
Exchanging Vows on The Pointe
The feeling of “getting away from it all” is one reason why brides and grooms host a destination wedding. That sentiment is keenly experienced on The Pointe at Canyon Lakeview, a lookout located only steps from the resort’s Cathedral Cabins and lodge suites.
Panoramic views of turquoise waters and golden Hill Country sunsets unfold from The Pointe. On the scenic precipice, birds glide among the trees, yellow flowering cacti decorate the landscape, and boats cruise in the distance.
“The stunning lakeshore is the perfect spot for couples to exchange vows and celebrate their reception,” says Ryane. “We can assist them in finding a caterer and coordinating vendors who will create their dream wedding. They can also host their rehearsal dinner on The Pointe’s crushed granite patio.”
