“We understand everyone is on a budget, especially brides and grooms,” says Catering and Meeting Services Manager Mary Chavez. “It’s my job to provide the high quality couples crave, without the high cost.”
To continue providing quality event services and spaces, the hotel recently underwent a major renovation—and just in time to begin offering wedding packages to brides and grooms.
Guest rooms were renovated last year, transforming them into light, open, and inviting spaces. And when the most recent renovations were unveiled, Mary and her team were thrilled to see the hotel’s dated dining and event spaces had been completely revamped. “Brides can look forward to an airy and modern feel with an inviting South Texas vibe in the remodeled ballroom, restaurant, and bar.”
Besides the renovated ballroom, which accommodates about 176 guests depending on seating configuration, the hotel has an intimate meeting space unique to this Holiday Inn location called the Margarita Room. “Because the Margarita Room is located on a guest floor and was converted from sleeping rooms, guests can actually bring in their own food and beverage.” It’s an interesting loophole in the traditional food and beverage policy, Mary explains.
Couples also love the Magnolia Room, a fun spot for a photo booth, and the Oak Room, which seats up to 64, is popular among couples for private dining experiences such as rehearsal dinners. Fully catered meals are available on-site where brides and grooms can select from a special occasion menu or customize their menu from scratch.
With a background in special events including birthday celebrations, military gatherings, baby showers, and quinceañeras, Mary is no stranger to planning the perfect function. “When I say I’m a full-service catering manager, I mean it. I am completely involved from beginning to end and make myself available 24/7.”
Mary and her stellar catering team at Holiday Inn Downtown Market Square strive to accommodate their couples’ needs, whatever they may be.
“It’s our job to help take the stress off,” she says. “I play a big role in a couple’s day and my team and I want it to be perfect. I encourage our brides’ and grooms’ input and like to have the lines of communication open at all times because, at the end of the event, seeing their smiles means we’ve done our job well.”
