For Celia and Stephen Taylor, owners of La Fontana Springs Event Center, business is personal. It was a fortuitous aligning of the sun, moon, and stars that landed the pair in Texas and handed them a gorgeous Hill Country wedding venue. And now the pair devotes their time, energy, and hearts to helping local brides and grooms create happy memories they’ll cherish for a lifetime. “When people feel comfortable with you, they share, and when they share, we’re able to support and nourish those wishes and feelings,” says Celia. “From the time you get acquainted with La Fontana to the time the sparklers are lit and you’re bidding farewell, we are on hand to ensure your day is stress-free and smooth.”
Sincere, caring, and genuine are just a few words you might attribute to Stephen and Celia and their business style, but when it comes to La Fontana itself, descriptors such as unique, elegant, creative, and shaded—yes, shaded—come to mind. The venue boasts two stunning outdoor spaces for ceremonies and cocktails, all shaded by South Texas’ famed old oaks, while inside couples can choose between the Grand Ballroom, which lives up to its name with space for up to 300 guests, or the Gallery, a more intimate place for celebrating with up to 60 of your nearest and dearest. “Couples love that we have a legitimate, indoor Plan B for inclement weather,” Celia says. “There’s no additional charge to move the event inside and that really puts their minds at ease.”
Just a few miles from both I-35 and US-281, La Fontana is a 6,000-square-foot, air-conditioned venue that offers not only inclusive services such as catering and DJ but also a no-restrictions policy. The business does not have specific hours of operation, so Celia can meet with you at your convenience; budget options are available to meet your spending plans; candles, sparklers, and the like are allowed; and when it comes to themes, anything goes. “Couples who are more countercultural feel comfortable around me and Stephen. They see that we’re daring and fun, so it opens up the conversation to have a Tim Burton theme or a Hogwarts wedding,” says Celia. “We’re not bound to the traditional outlook on how a wedding day should be. We’re super creative and feel strongly that a wedding should be a direct reflection of the couple’s uniqueness.”
Whether you’re planning locally or from afar, Celia works with an online floor program to input all of your details so you can better envision the final production. She’s even savvy with technologies like FaceTime, Skype, and Google Hangouts so that she can actually walk you through the venue. “That’s the level of detail and attention our couples deserve and can expect from La Fontana. It’s a more powerful way to communicate if I can see it through their eyes and read their faces.”
No matter the vision, it takes a team to create awe-inspiring events. Celia understands the many moving parts of a wedding and has years of experience in putting together teams of entirely vetted vendors. She works with local industry pros and relies on the expertise of others. “You can’t know everything, so when you find like-minded professionals who are good at what they do, you find it best to avail yourself to them,” she says. It’s because of this faith in her team and her fellow vendors that Celia is able to encourage her couples to step back and allow La Fontana to do what it does best. “While our couples are the host, their role during the event is to relax and enjoy the party in their honor—not to feel the stress that goes along with throwing a big event. We want those first special hours they’re starting their union as husband and wife to be spectacular.”
