On the big day, the months and sometimes years of planning all come together to form a couple’s dream celebration. It is no doubt a group effort for vendors and wedding planners to coordinate for a smooth event. With 30 years of experience as a wedding planner, Diana Boucher knows all of the ins and outs of the business.
“When Mark and I got married in New York 35 years ago, we had a garden wedding, tents, the whole thing; My mother had hired someone to manage the day and we thought ‘Wow, this could be a thing.’ I had literally never heard of a wedding planner,” Diana said. When her husband’s career prompted their family to move to Texas a few years after they married, she decided to start working from home as a wedding planner and stay-at-home mom. In 1988, Diana planned a wedding for her first client and the rest is history.
Diana runs three companies: Weddings & Events by Diana Boucher, which is a wedding planning business exclusively ran by her, All Bustled Up!, which is its sister company and Cheers Event Group—a venue management company in which Diana’s daughter, Jackie White, is the president.
Jackie grew up surrounded and enticed by her mother’s work as a wedding planner. She even assisted Diana with weddings when she was in high school, getting trained in the art of wedding planning early on.
Cheers Event Group
Now, the two work together running Cheers Event Group, which launched in early 2018. Cheers Event Group currently manages Hoffman Ranch in Castroville and Red Corral Ranch in Wimberley. Their plan is to manage several different venues, offering their All Bustled Up! planning services at each venue.
The company manages its venues for everything from bookings to maintenance. It also helps brides with some coordination on their wedding day, including organizing the layout of the ceremony and reception spaces, following the itinerary and managing the vendor list.
“I think the most important thing for couples to consider when choosing a venue is that the venue fits the couples’ personality and style,” advised Jackie. She added that reading through every inch of the venue contract, specifically the approved vendor list, and having a plan B for unpredictable weather are also extremely important.
All Bustled Up!
“We started All Bustled Up! because it’s the cure to the day-of plan,” said Diana. “The day-of plan does not work. What happens is you and your planner/coordinator do not have time to form any kind of relationship, so there is no real trust there and that is absolutely key. I
have to know that my couples will have 100% faith in any decision I have to make on their behalf.”
With All Bustled Up!, a couple can sign up a year to a year and a half in advance of their wedding. It’s a limited plan with six meetings. You can call or e-mail Diana at any time. If she is unable to make it to your wedding, she will have her A-team, consisting of top coordinators, there in her place.
“The best thing you can have in this business is resources,” said Diana. “Being able to bring together a team that you know will be stellar throughout the whole planning process and the wedding day is a big deal.”
Weddings & Events by Diana Boucher
Owing the start of her career to her original company, Weddings & Events by Diana Boucher, Diana will forever have fond memories of the exceptional weddings and couples over the years that impacted her life with lots of laughter and joy.
For brides that want to have a destination wedding, Diana’s company’s services travel outside of Texas. Last year, she and her team planned a wedding that took place at a manor in England and they are currently planning another out-of-country wedding for 2019. Diana said they will travel to just about anywhere and she looks forward to doing more destination weddings.
“Here we are 540 weddings later,” said Diana, gratefully. “It’s hard to believe the words that I’m saying are even true.”
