When you first walk into Holiday Inn Downtown – Market Square you will have no idea that it was built in 1968! The hotel exudes a modern feel with historic value. “Just because we are 50 years old, doesn’t mean we can’t be competitive,” said Catering and Events Manager, Tiffany Mireles. The venue is very well kept up, with beautiful updated flooring and fixtures throughout. The location of the Holiday Inn is ideal for those in town for events of all sorts—it’s a short shuttle ride to river-front restaurants and with an H-E-B nearby, it makes shopping for those last-minute wedding makeup items convenient. The hotel parking lot accommodates 186 spots, free-of-charge, and the hotel comprises 318 rooms. Guests can relish in the comfort of a central, downtown location in a homely hotel.
For those looking to host an event, Holiday Inn can cater to almost any budget and is open to bringing visions of any caliber to life! The venue consists of multiple spaces for celebrating your event. One of the more unique spaces they have to offer is their poolside area. Director of Sales at Holiday Inn, Debbie Arnold, said that poolside events are something they would love to host more of. The pool is one of the largest amongst other area hotels. The wide, paved area around the pool has plenty of chairs and tables, perfect for holding an outdoor cocktail hour or even an intimate reception! The pool scene captures the serenity of the outdoors and is truly a relaxing and beautiful spot for a cozy gathering.
Inside the hotel, the Margarita Room is perfect for more intimate gatherings like a bridal shower or a bridal ready room. This room is the only space available for rent on the premises in which you are allowed to bring outside food and drink into. The Magnolia Room is ideal for small receptions or for cocktail hours. It has the capacity to host up to 40 people and the natural sunlight from the large windows in this room adds a warming touch. The Oak Room is a space larger than the Magnolia Room, with the ability to host up to 100 people. It has natural light, numerous ways to decorate the space and there is a large bar located within the adjoining room. The 2400-square-foot Botanical Ball Room is made up of three, same-sized bays: Laurel, Jasmine and Azalea. Each bay can hold up to 60 people. You can reserve all three bays or just one or two, according to your guest count. Holiday Inn also has a dedicated eating space where private luncheons can be held.
A wedding package at Holiday Inn provides basic black and/or white linens, round or rectangular tables, a sweetheart table, chairs with covers, in-house votive centerpieces, a dance floor, day-of coordination by Tiffany and a complimentary one-night stay at the hotel for the newlyweds. The hotel partners with Got It Covered for many of these included features. In addition to everything offered onsite, Tiffany can refer clients to outside vendors for audio/visual inquiries, specialty linens, rehearsal dinner spots and more. Tiffany and Debbie love sending their guests to nearby River Walk locations like Michelino's, Café Ole, Lone Star Café and Agave Bar to not just enjoy the delicious offerings, but to enjoy the historic downtown area as well.
