From Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., Ali Bisnov has used her makeup artistry to help women feel gorgeous. This year, her family ties inspired her to move to San Antonio to beautify brides preparing for their big day.
“My brother owns a DJ company in San Antonio and has many wedding clients, so I decided to join him down here and help brides looking for a makeup artist,” says Bisnov, owner of Ali B. Beauty. “Whether they want a glamourous or natural style, I use the latest techniques and products that create a look that’s true to them.”
Circling Back to Texas
Bisnov’s brother, Benji Bisnov, is owner of Cedar & Oak Entertainment and Events. When introducing her to his clients, he unabashedly brags about her being a graduate of the prestigious Make-Up Designory in Los Angeles and her work being featured in a live segment of “Good Day L.A.”
After California, Bisnov further developed her craft in Washington, D.C., where she worked for a high-end bridal hair and makeup studio. Before her West and East coasts jaunts, Bisnov lived in San Antonio while obtaining her cosmetology credentials from the Paul Mitchell beauty school.
“When Ali told me she was moving back to San Antonio, I was very confident that she was prepared for the process of starting and growing a business,” says Bisnov’s big brother. “If my wedding clients need a makeup artist, I gladly refer them to my sister because I trust her work and professionalism.”
For the first time in 13 years, the Bisnov siblings and their parents are living in the same city. “I wanted to be closer to family, so I circled back to Texas,” Bisnov says. “I’m very eager to get involved in the San Antonio and Hill Country wedding communities. I love the Southern hospitality and how people have been so warm and friendly.”
Sharing Plush Studio Space
With open arms, her brother has welcomed Bisnov to share his private, spacious and modern office space in Shavano Park, a community within northwest San Antonio. She has more than ample room to perform makeup consultation trials as well as makeup sessions for engagement photos, bridal portraits, and of course, the wedding day itself.
“It’s the perfect space with its studio lighting, cozy sofa, sound system and plenty of room for makeup tables,” she says. “We also have a kitchen, tables and chairs, so the bridal party can bring drinks and food and take time to relax before the ceremony.”
Although her brother has enjoyed having her to bounce ideas off in the office, he predicts she will outgrow the space.
“It’s exciting to have her here while she’s growing her business, but I can’t wait to see where success takes her next,” he says.
In addition to her studio, Bisnov can go to the bride’s home, hotel or ceremony venue. Often, she’s the first vendor her clients talk to on their wedding day, so she puts them at-ease.
“I enjoy connecting to brides so that they feel comfortable, and I want them to know that they can ask me questions about the look I’m creating for them,” she says. “I also give them tips and tricks about skin care and makeup that they can use every day.”
Bisnov considers the bride’s wedding dress, jewelry, hairdo, venue lighting, skin tone and photos they show her from social media when consulting them. She offers add-ons such as airbrushing and fake eyelashes and a 10 percent military discount.
“From their ceremony to their last dance, my ultimate goal is that my bridal clients feel their beautiful best on one of the most important days of their lives,” she says.
